Six detained throughout Saturday demonstration in Asheville – WSPA 7News

Asheville, NC( WSPA )– 6 people were arrested Saturday on a variety of charges during demonstrations in Asheville, the cops department stated.

According to a news release from the Asheville Police Department, officers responded to the Renaissance Hotel around 8:17 p.m. Saturday night in action to protesters blocking visitors from going into the hotel and breaking windows.

Cops stated that when they got here the protesters started marching down Woodfin Street towards the Buncombe County Courthouse. While marching, bicyclists surrounded an officer’s car and were informed they would be arrested if they did stagnate.

According the release, protesters did stagnate and officers started making arrests at which time another group of protesters got on them, leading to four officers suffering small injuries. Defense, consisting of a knife and a “window breaker” were taken.

The individuals were detained and launched on a written promise. Those detained are as follows:

    • Usage Foreign License While Driving While License Revoked
    • Hamper Traffic Sit/Stand/Lie
    • Speeding
  • Lavender Batya Ross, 23, of Asheville.
    • Fail to Distribute on Command
    • Withstand Public Officer
    • Impede Traffic Sit/Stand/Lie
  • Auden David Miller, 19, of Asheville.
    • Attack on a Federal Government Official
    • Fail to Disperse on Command
    • Resist Public Officer
    • Restrain Traffic Sit/Stand/Lie
    • Disorderly Conduct
  • Abigail Lynn Snow 23, of Asheville.
    • Disorderly Conduct
    • Fail to Distribute on Command
    • Resist Public Officer
    • Restrain Traffic Sit/Stand/Lie
  • Claire Louise Bowling, 19, of Asheville.
    • Fail to Distribute on Command
    • Withstand Public Officer
    • Restrain Traffic Sit/Stand/Lie
