TRYON– Stephen Carroll Brady passed away on August 9, 2020 at Objective Medical Facility in Asheville, NC after a brief stay.
He was the kid of the late R. Holland Brady, Sr. and Julia Carroll Brady and was born in Tryon at the old St. Luke’s Hospital on Carolina Drive on August 30, 1932. He was an Eagle Scout and a 1950 graduate of Tryon High School. He finished in 1954 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B. S. degree in Organisation Administration and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Following his graduation, he signed up with the household insurance coverage agency, Brady Insurance coverage, in Tryon, which was founded by his dad in 1928.
In 1956, Carroll went into the US Army serving at Fort Jackson, SC, Fort Holabird, MD and Fort McPherson, GA with the Counterintelligence Corps. He wed June Hamrick on August 18, 1956 in Mount Holly, NC. Following his tour in the Army, he went back to work at Brady Insurance coverage for his entire profession. He and June worked side by side at the firm up until their joint retirement in 2000. Business continues today as Main Street Insurance coverage Group with kid Stephen and grandson Wesley representing 4 generations.
Throughout Carroll’s career, he dealt with numerous community groups including the Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, Kid Scouts, Morehead Scholarship Committee and the Firemen’s Relief Fund. He was a life-long member of Tryon First Baptist Church where at his death, he was the church’s longest standing member. When asked about his viewpoint of life, he said he attempted to live each day as finest he could, being considerate of others and listening to what they needed to state. He had an excellent love for trains and our Blue Ridge Mountains. In earlier days, he liked the outdoors, treking and traveling.
Carroll was preceded in death by his moms and dads and his bro R. Holland Brady, Jr. He is endured by his better half June Hamrick Brady, his children Susan Brady of Tryon and Martha Brady Burwell and partner John of Greenville, SC, his child Stephen Brady and partner Nancy of Tryon. Carroll is also endured by five grandchildren: Dr. Wynne Morris of Carrboro, NC, Holland Morris of Salt Lake City, UT, Stephen Morris of Tryon, Emily Brady Smith of Chesapeake, VA and Wes Brady of Tryon. He also recently became a great-grandfather to two twin women Elliana and Everette Smith of Chesapeake, VA.
. There will be a personal household graveside service at Tryon First Baptist later on today with the Reverend Dr. Jeff Harris officiating.
